MURANO ARCHIMEDE SEGUSO C1960 TWO DOVES LOVE BIRDS ON A BRANCH PINK BLUE NEODYMIUM CASED MINT CONDITION 8 LENGTH. This listing is for a most interesting colour changing glass: TWO BIRDS ON A BRANCH, sculpture/figurine. It was made in the 1950-60s mid century by the legendary mid 20th-century Murano glassmaster ARCHIMEDE SEGUSO. The vintage Murano figurine is crafted from colour-changing neodymium/alexandrite glass. (Please see RESEARCH NOTES BELOW). Hand-blown in Italy, this unique piece showcases the art glass production style and technique of the era.

The pink and blue hues of the cased cerise colour changing glass add a touch of elegance and drama to this decorative glass, making it a valuable addition to any collector's display. The colours in daylight are a strong cerise pink birds on a pink corded formed branch. In incandescent lamp light the branch and the glass the birds are cased in turn to aqua blue. The cerise birds are cased so their wing tips, tail etc show a slight blue edges.

They really look like two different figurines. One for the daytime another for nighttime! They scream out "made by Seguso". Whether singles, conjoined or birds-on a branch, all Seguso dove design birds have only four sculpted and integral tail feathers. No other maker, midcentury nor since, produced dove type birds with just four tail feathers, they are the iconic marker of Seguso's doves.. Also, Seguso doves never have an exaggerated/bulbous head that is frequently seen on other makers' dove designs. Heads are relatively small and flat and beaks hooky, wings are always dropped to each side, never folded to a point over the back.
