ANTIQUE SALVIATI VENETIAN ITALIAN MURANO CRANBERRY PINK ART GLASS FISH DOLPHIN. EXCEPTIONAL ITALIAN MURANO ART GLASS FIGURINE. Presenting an exquisite antique Murano glass fish or dolphin figure attributed to the master Italian glass artist Salviati. This magnificent piece has been hand crafted in a stunningly rich cranberry pink coloured glass with expertly tooled applied clear glass fins and mouth which sparkle with a multitude of glistening real gold inclusions. A truly magnificent colour combination! The body and tail of the fish features beautiful optical ribbing which perfectly follows the sleek contour of the form, spectacularly radiating light throughout the richly coloured glass. The tail, fins and lips feature tooled ribbing which magnificently accentuates the stunning sparkle of the glass. The elegantly curved uplifted tail, flowing fins and oversized lips add a fabulous sense of movement to the perfectly proportioned form. This delightful piece is beautifully finished with black and white canes creating the eyes. This stunning freestanding piece stands perfectly balanced upon the creatures fins and base of the tail creating a wonderfully sculptural form. The hollow body would allow this piece to function as a spill vase if so desired when standing upright. This piece can alternatively be displayed resting on its belly, with the fins stabilising the piece. This piece looks exquisite with light illuminating the richly coloured glass while glistening off the ribbing and gold inclusions. This piece is presented in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. There are a few exceptionally light and fine surface scratches to one side of the body, noticeable only on extremely close examination in bright raking light with a magnifier. There is the odd encapsulated air bubble within the glass, and the usual pontil marks to the base, a standard part of manufacture but mentioned for complete accuracy.
