10 Vintage MURANO Archimede Seguso ALABASTRO glass DUCK BIRD FIGURINE
RARE 1950'S ARCHIMEDES SEGUSO PINK ALABASTRO CRESTED DUCK bird Figurine Collector?? The photos do not do justice to this beautiful figurine. I will do more photos asap.. This listing is for a large over 9 1/2hand blown, beautifully formed red graduated to pink (to the palest of pinks almost white by the tail end) type glass DUCK. The Alabastro in the centre is submerged in clear glass (Sommerso technique).
The maker is Archimedes Seguso and it was made around the 1950's. This sits upon pulled feet and rests on the body and tail to make if very stable.
The long red beak is connected to the red crest and is applied. Then there are deeply indented and formed eyes.
As you can see from the photos the body is long with a deep pink stain running up the middle which can be seen on the base. It has the typical pose of looking for food or something of interest from its owner.
A very inquisitive crested duck.. It is an excellent example of MURANO by SEGUSO at its best.
Great for the collector as well as the connoisseur of eye pleasing figurines. The lines are clean and OH so appealing..
The glass is often called alabastro glass, which is in this case coloured pink and some pale pink. An artistic masterpiece by one of the great art glass sculptors of MURANO. Lovely rare item for a special gift or keepsake. MEASUREMENTS: Height 9 1/2" x 5 /2" width x 5 deep approx.
