1884 Antique Victorian Stevens & Williams Matsu-no-ke Pink Art Glass Thorn Vase

This authentic Stevens and Williams, Matsu-no-ke art glass vase is a Frederick Carder design from 1884, and is a exceptionally sought after curio that is considered a candid predecessor of applied flora motifs in English art glass design during the Victorian era. The exterior of the vase begins with a darker shade of pink and gradually spreads toward the bottom of the vase with a lighter shade of pink. The interior is a custard coloured white, and the inside of the vase glows green under a black light.

The vase has thorns through out, and a hand tooled ruffled rim. There's two colourless applied rosette discs, and an applied branch with pinched thorns. The base has a nice polished pontil and is etched along the perimeter of the base with RD 15353.

The rim is 1-1/2 diameter. The base is 2-1/8 diameter. Wooden base is not included. Please read the item specifics and the condition report for more information.
