Antique Art Nouveau Glass Floriform Wind-up Clock. Art Nouveau era, Bohemian art glass floriform clock stand is a delightful and rare shape. The petal are pink opalescent glass with a geometric "vein" pattern on each petal.
The fitter ring and the two applied leaves serving as the base are of vaseline glass vase which does glow neon green under a UV light. The wind-up clock is believed to be from Hamburg. Certainly has an attractive and decorative clock face with hands that are complete. The art glass floriform clock stand is 7 wide. The applied vaseline glass base is 4 long.
The fitter on back of the glass floriform is 2-7/8 diameter. The front of the clock is 2-5/8 diameter. The art glass floriform is of superb quality. The maker is currently unknown. There is not much known about these floriform art glass clocks. As far as floriform art glass lamp shades there is nothing to compare with. The pattern on the petals suggests characteristics found on Loetz. A good comparison to understand the Loetz characteristics of the petal pattern is found on Candia Chine, PN 1-6978 and the Loetz site covering the early production of Loetz has another example, photo 86.03.
Floriform shapes were produced for export by several Bohemian glasshouses such as Harrach and Kralik, but I have not found the petal pattern on any example. Who ever made it, this is truly a one of a kind and a special example to have in any art glass collection. Estimated production date is from the 1890's to 1910. The wooden base is for display and is not included.
