Antique Reverse Painted Lamp Pink Satin Glass Landscape Pittsburgh Art Nouveau
From a coastal Rhode Island estate. Stunning Pittsburgh Art Nouveau Era double socketed lamp with reverse painted pink satin glass shade. Hand painted scene is of a rolling landscape with stylized trees hills and a quaint cottage. Colors on pink background are orange, lavender, brown, green, and black. Shade has hand printed number 847 near the top opening, which is fitted with a round two-part brass and iron fitter and finial. Lamp itself is bronzed cast iron, including the substantial harp. Heavily embossed leaves and vines decorate the sides and base of the two-handled urn-shaped lamp body. Base of lamp is embossed with the number 1672.
Pull chain operates the original Bryant three way switch for both bulbs. Socket has the patent date of May 7, 1907. Iron body has most of the original bronze colorwith the small exception of an area on the bottom, where there is a patch of minor surface rust.
I've not attempted to clean or retouch this area. Assembled, the lamp measures 21"H X 7 7/8"W at the base. Shade measures 15 1/2"W X 7"H and has a 3 1/2W fitter opening.
It has a couple of very minor chips at the fitter openingcommensurate with age and usewhich are completely hidden under the decorative, round fitter disk.
