An antique Victorian Stevens & Williams hand blown cased custard glass vase. It has an opal glass body, casing an inner layer of pink glass with three applied amber feet. The rim flares out to form a wide collar that is heavily frilled and raised at the back.
Its approx 5 inches tall and 4 inches at its widest. The company was established in the mid-19th century and gained a reputation for its innovative glassmaking techniques and artistic designs. They produced a wide range of glass items, including vases, bowls and scent bottles.
The company's glassware was highly regarded and collected by enthusiasts around the world. Their work is considered a prime example of the Victorian and Art Nouveau glassmaking styles. Unfortunately, like many glass manufacturers, Stevens & Williams faced challenges with changing tastes and economic fluctuations, and the company eventually closed in the early 20th century.
