Absolutely incredible ornamental vase by Australian artist Colin Heaney, created in 1991. It has the makers mark/signature near the bottom. It measures 20cm tall and has no chips or cracks. Heaney stopped making glassware in 2008 which makes these pieces particularly special.
The detail and colour in these pieces is breathtaking, the photos do not do them justice! I loved glass blowing right from the start because you have to work in the moment. You only get one chance to get it right and you have to react instantly.
Glass as a medium is so fantastic. Colin started small, making paper weights and wine glasses and then graduated to large-scale sculptural works. He has made vases, oil lamps, bowls, goblets and much more. His works are unique and he has developed several signature styles along the way. He is probably best known though for his wine glasses or goblets. "My art is in galleries and private collections all around the world including Europe, Hong Kong and the States, " he said. Elton John has some of my glass art and I know that Mick Jagger was given a piece or two. The item "Colin Heaney art glass vase, 1991" is in sale since Friday, August 2, 2019.
