Offered is this elegant cased glass brides bowl or brides basket in cranberry crystal shading to pastel pink at the base. The bowl sits on an elaborate silverplate stand made by Mermod Jaccard & Co.
The outside of the bowl is decorated with hand-enameled white daisies with gilded foliage. The double-crimped rim of the bowl has a drapery effect in the way the glass is folded. The inside of the bowl is ivory. The shading from dark to light pink on the outside represents a kind of Rubina effect. This is an outstanding example of Victorian fancy glass. The unusual silverplate stand features flourishes and curlicues typical of Art Nouveau style. This piece stands 12 inches high (30.5 cm) from the tabletop to the rim of the bowl. The bowl measures 10 inches in diameter (25.5 cm) and about 4.5 inches high (11.5 cm). Very good used condition with no chips or cracks. The silverplate stand is in very good condition.
