This listing is for an RARE TO FIND art glass Sculpture of immense proportions.. (I cannot find another similar for sale at present). HUGE Vintage Italian murano Glass sculpture, stunning DOUBLE PARROTS perched on a branch and leaf pedestal suffused with gold leaf detail. A Truly magnificent piece, which would have been made by a very highly skilled master craftsman. This is VERY, VERY LARGE at almost 6.5kg and absolutely stunning quality RARE TO FIND and gorgeous Murano hand blown hot pink, blue, and gold leaf Italian art glass parrots sculpture. The technique of blending the two colours is called "Ombré". This has then been cased in clear glass. A mesmerising combination of suffused pink and blue with a very lavish amount of gold leaf from the base to the claws and crests of the parrots. The tails are a delight too, with the lavish curl of glass feather.This MURANO figurine is the largest I have ever had the delight to behold and very heavy. Documented to designer Alfredo Barbini, and published in his Weil ceramics and glass catalog, circa 1950s-1960s. The sculpture features blended pink and blue glass from the huge gold base in the form of a branch. The piece is profusely covered in gold leaf. It has a large polished pontil mark in a concave base with a part of an old Murano sticky label still attached.
What an AMAZING piece of art glass! A lovely item to treasure, or to give as a gift for wedding or anniversary or other special occasion. MEASUREMENTS: Height 18 x Width x Depth. CONDITION: Excellent condition commensurate with age. I can find no chips or faults in this magnificent figurine.
There may be some sharp ends as with all Murano hand made pieces. These would have been as finished in the factory. If you need further information please do not hesitate to message me..
