Elegant bouquet with pink red roses in a glass vase, vintage, impressionists 1950s, showcases a bold impressionist style brushstrokes. Oil painting on panel board, one of a kind, painted in 1950s by the Polish painter Sophia Wysocka who was living in Chelsea, London, UK. This beautiful painting would add a touch of elegance to any home or office. Format: W 28cm x H 39 cm. The painting does not come signed and is a medium-sized piece, painted on the panel board.

The painting is in a very good condtition and is not signed. SOPHIA WYSOCKA (1915 Poland - 2008, London UK). Polish born artist where she has studied Fine Art.

She came to live in London in 1940's and her husband served as a Diplomat at the Polish Embassy in London. Sophia continued her art training as an art student at the Tate Gallery in London and later became employed by the Tate as its main Conservator/Restorer.

She was part of London's Chelsea arts society and was exhibiting through their circles. Sophia has been passionate about the impressionist movement and has reproduced an endless number of oil paintings by Degas, Renoir and others. Sophia's inspiration to impressionisms becomes very obvious in her own numerous floral oil paintings where she masterly portrays flower arrangements with superbly executed brush strokes carrying a blend of bright colours, resulting in perfectly harmonious colour compositions. She was in love with floral arrangements and she has painted never ending number of flowers placed in vases. Amongst her painting opus there are also several self-portraits. Sophia's work was exhibiting by Chelsea Arts Society until 2005 while she was in late 80's and she has decided to put her colourful palette aside. The last few years she has spent living in Edith Terrace in Chelsea, London where she passed away in 2008 at age of 93.
