Large Mstisov Niagara Bowl - Blue & Pink Sculptural Czech Glass - A splendid example of mid-century Czech glass artistry, this large, heavy sculptural glass bowl is a visual sonata in cobalt blue and rose pink, its three-pointed organic form evoking the fluidity of water and flame alike. Believed to be made by the Mstisov glassworks in the 1960s and attributed to Karel Zemek's Niagara range, it's a piece that rewards contemplation - the colours shift and dance with the light, revealing depths and nuances that feel almost musical. I've struggled to take good photos due to the direction of the sun and hope to update the listing with better ones! - Founded in 1868, Mstisov began life producing glass rods for the jewellery trade before blossoming into a powerhouse of decorative glassware.

By the 1950s, Frantisek Zemek had become chief designer, celebrated for his Rhapsody and Romana ranges. His brother Karel, less widely known but no less gifted, is credited with the Niagara series - bold, sculptural works that seem to capture motion in stillness. In 1958, Mstisov joined the Borske Sklo Corporation, further cementing its place in the pantheon of European glassmakers. This particular bowl is in very good undamaged condition, with only the expected signs of age-related wear to the polished base - nothing that detracts from its presence or beauty. It's a substantial piece too, weighing just under 3kg, and measuring approximately 13 inches in length, 8 inches in width, and 4.5 inches in height. In good order with no damage. I have taken plenty of photos to allow you to judge the condition so please take a moment to study them too. Those dimensions again are as follows: Length - 13 inches Width - 8 inches Height - 4.5 inches Weight - 2965 g Shown with a bottle of Champagne to give you an idea of scale. I try to post promptly and always pack carefully. Please do take a look at my other items - there may be something else that catches your eye.
