FRUIT BASKET' or'FRUIT BOWL. This was the original catalogue description by the makers like. Meriden, Derby, J W Tufts, Reed and Barton, Webster, Pairpoint, etc. It was not until these became collectables, later, in the 20th century that the collectors. Started referring to them as'BRIDE'S BASKETS'. They were the most common GIFT to the bride. For display on her sideboard to hold the fruit of the season. What is better than an enameled ruffled bowl with outstanding display. Of grapes and vines in wonderful array of vibrant colors? The painting is just about in ORIGINAL CONDITION! Very rare for these antique glass pieces. Then, the silver plate frame repeats the same fruit theme.

Hanging cherries, leaves, and vine-like handle decor. There are no breaks, chips, or cracks in the bowl. Made in the 1880's, and being 130 + years of age.

It is the epitome' of Victorian style. This true antique (a likely original pair) is for the advanced collector. Or collector looking to upgrade their collection. The bowl fits SNUGLY in the frame, the profiles of the frame and bowl are in alignment, and they both share the same theme.

The silver plating appears to be fully present, and beautiful! I could not find the makers mark, it could have been resilvered before my time.

May not be Meriden, it could be Derby, Wilcox, Pairpoint, Tufts. Or any number of the great silver manufacturers of that region. The bowl is 12" wide, frame is 14" wide and 15 tall.

IMPORTANT: I SEE MANY REPRODUCTION FRAMES ON THE INTERNET FOR SALE AS. One give-away is the vertical SEAM in the metal surround that the bowl sits in. Made in Korea in the 1980's and not antique, and not silver plate.
