Scott Bayless grew up near. Where Steuben Glass is located. And he has had a lifelong fascination with blown glass. At the age of 12, Scott rushed home to melt Pyrex tubing.

His career started in his early 20's. In school Scott studied painted and photography: later cinematography and animation. Scott Bayless was hired by Charles Lotton in 1996 to make jewelry out of glass shards. Seven months later, the talented Scott was promoted to full time finishing work. Shortly after that Daniel Lotton encouraged Scott to make a paperweight from a gather of molten glass.

Scott made his first paperweight. To one of the regular Lotton Customers. In the spring of 1998 Scott filled an order for 200 paperweights. Later Scott began to make paperweights with the Calla Lily and even later adding the Orchid to his line. Each piece of glass is signed on the side where it can not be scratched off or changed.

Scott says this is his little attachment to immortality. If the piece is still around in a thousand years. His signature will still be legible.
