Pink Scavo Glass Table Lamp Vittorio Rigattieri, c. 1978 Seguso Vetri d'Arte, Italy. A very sculptural and very large vintage glass and patinated bronze-effect table lamp, designed by Vittorio Rigattieri for Seguso Vetri d'Arte, Murano, in the late 1970s. The body of the lamp, in the shape of a flattened globe, is of a very thick dusty-pink glass that has been decorated a scavo - a technique whereby the glass is applied with ashes and salts whilst still semi-molten to create the time-weathered look of excavated Roman glass.
The metalwork has been very strikingly lacquered to look like very dark verdigris-covered bronze, with a tactile rough-casted texture - a look and colour that perfectly complements the'aged' glass. The lamp has been refitted with an Italian-made Bakelite E27 lampholder, with in-built switch, which is suitable for most modern British and traditional European shades. It has been rewired with premium vintage-style Italian-made twisted fabric cable in an ivory colour.Material: Glass Height: 520mm / 20.5" Width or Diameter: 320mm / 12.6" Country of Origin: Italy Period of Manufacture: 1960s-1970s Vintage Condition: Generally excellent.
