Sevres Alexandrite Art Glass Colour Changing Vase Vintage Mid Century French

A mid century Sevres French art glass vase. It is in Alexandrite glass which changes colour with the light source, under tungsten light it has a lilac tone, and it goes more blue under fluorescent light. In sunlight the tone changes with the height and strength of the sun being lilac when the sun is low to the horizon and going blue when it is high in the sky. The idea of course is that it changes throughout the day, the change is gradual and fairly subtle - it doesn't suddenly go from one colour to another - but is does add extra interest to the item. Sevres were noted for producing a range of this glass in the mid 20th century around the 1950's and there are various vase and bowl designs available. They are generally heavily constructed as with this piece. It has the Sevres acid etched mark to the underside of the foot. Some minor wear and a few marks through use with slight scuffing inside the neck. Small blip of glass to the foot terrace (from production). The Sevres mark is rather faint.
